"Something That Is Not There"

Palestinian Sympathy Fatigue finally wears out Saudi Foreign Minister HRH Prince Saud al-Faisal enough to take his day gig seriously again.

"We will not do anything that will divert from the seriousness of the occasion.
Shaking hands. To give an impression of something that is not there."
Annapolis is sweet. Corrupt royalty in Ray Bans long suffered by the Great Satan acts out in Little Satan's homage. Refusing to engage in such pleasantries is significant.

HRH Prince Faisal's policy, personally driven for over 30 years is driving right off the road.

For years the Arab League has complained, dissed, denied, unrecognized, fought and terrorized a nigh indestructable tiny minority of rich democratic egalitarian tolerants with a nigh undefeatable military she wields far above her weight class.

Arab consensus is off the hook. Expertly christened the Little Satan - all the ME's problems are from Israel. Al-Jazeera's commandant editor Ahmed Sheikh explains:

The Palestinian cause is central for Arab thinking. It’s because we always lose
to Israel. It gnaws at the people in the Middle East that such a small country
as Israel, with only about 7 million inhabitants, can defeat the Arab nation
with its 350 million. That hurts our collective ego. The Palestinian problem is
in the genes of every Arab. The West’s problem is that it does not understand
this.

Au contraire, The West understands it perfectly. It's intolerance.
In many Arab states, the middle class is disappearing. The rich get richer and
the poor get still poorer. Look at the schools in Jordan, Egypt or Morocco: You
have up to 70 youngsters crammed together in a single classroom. How can a
teacher do his job in such circumstances? The public hospitals are also in a
hopeless condition. These are just examples. They show how hopeless the
situation is for us in the Middle East.

Shouldn't failed leaders of failing societies and failed nations admit their failure? Heck no!

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is one of the most important reasons why these
crises and problems continue to simmer. The day when Israel was founded created
the basis for our problems. The West should finally come to understand this.

The Annapolis Awakening may be the Great Satan's final confrontation with the casus belle for the Arab world's raison d'retarde'. The Saudi's very own Arab League proposal to officially recognize is the first step toward healing an entire region. Admitting failure, admitting Israel and admitting something quite revealing:

Annapolis shows that the Palestinians, Israelis or the Arab League have not reached an unbearable discomfort level.

Peace is made between enemies. Peace is made between winners and losers.

A better case could be made that all this never ending, on again, off again Tenet plans, roadmaps and Sharm Al Sheiks to negotiate Israeli-Palestinian peace make the problem worse, not better. Peace has never came from subtle nuamces, negotiations and diplomacy.

Peace is made when one side screams "Mercy! Please! Stop!"

Regardless of the papparazzi and P.R. sales - Anwar Sadat's trip to Israel wasn't a sign post on a Road Map. The peace deal cut between Jordan and Israel was never an agenda on any international conference. Israel, Jordan and Egypt needed peace.

The potential preachers paradise sharia satellite of Iran is too busy consolidating power in Gaza the old school way with AK's, masks and militias. Totally booked up plotting an especial reunification with the WB.

Fatah's remixed PL Old school seem comfy being a client state - more interested in dealing with the HAMAS, foreign donations and honoring dead terror leaders (traditionally themed with shaeed martyrs, victims and blood). Abbas' posse are like Chancellor Palpatine in Star Wars III. Fearful only of losing power.

Israel's economy is off the hook. Honking and growing - making the Little Satan less likely to risk any changes in her client state's status.

The HAMAS has diplomatically backed itself into a very tight and dangerous corner.

Little Satan's elected leader laughs it off, enjoying the double entrappping tripple entendre' the Arab League and the HAMAS risable diplomatic agilities provide. And don't forget HRH Prince Faisal of Saud who made such an homage possible:

"I am happy he is here."

You got that right sister!!!

I do like Bebe, but I disagree that this is a bad idea; although his point about one sided concessions is right on the mark. Easy...if they don't honor any agreements neither should Is.

They may all just agree to chat again, who knows? But I really don't expect much more than that from this crew; they'll eat well though.

"Peace is made when one side screams "Mercy! Please! Stop!"

The governments in question may wake up one day, but the terrorists in the region will take much longer to give it a rest.

How long would it take for the ME mindset to get around its education which include such lessons as Israel is the Little Satan; Jews are the devil; or that "Palestine" was just a region on the map with ZERO support from other regional "elites" prior to the placing of numerous survivors of the holocaust in a prime vacation/resort locale.

With all the hate-fed the students of ignorance would leaders truly be willing to take their favorite scapegoat out of the equation only to let their own incompetence shine through?

It's a strange region in the world; were it safer tourists could visit and enjoy a true to life middle ages vacation. Renaissance Festivals would fall by the wayside here in the U.S. with the real thing just a plane ride away.

Peace often if not always has to be fought for; peace to too many means the destruction of the scapegoat. Following that, peace would be something we wouldn't recognize, at least as peace.

I fear it will get much uglier before it will get better. Unfortunately this is likely the only way that anything of worth will come out the area. If anyone is impatient for such a thing, support the IAEA in its Islamic Republic efforts so that the nukes of love and peace can be developed by Momo and the humanity loving milquetoast Mullahs.

Let the games begin

Israel and the Palestinians have agreed to further talks. But check out this line, from WaPo's story:

"Abbas referred to a U.N. resolution that Palestinians believe gives them a right to return to their land in Israel, while Olmert mentioned a 2004 letter that President Bush gave former Israel Prime Minister Ariel Sharon which said the return of such refugees was unrealistic."

Israel has no business negotiating its right to exist, which is really what's at issue with the "right of return."

I stand in awe, girlfriend. You are an accomplished communicator!

Olmert also used diplomatic code to turn right of return into a sort of right of relocation.
Right of Return is DOA.

Prince Faisal's speech today at

http://www.saudiembassy.net/2007News/Statements/SpeechDetail.asp?cIndex=706

"...especially the principle of land for peace. It provides a realistic approach to implementing the vision of the two-state solution."

Now that is a hoot! The Little Satan's split from Gaza and Lebanon show that 'land 4 peace' is a sure caliphate creator.

Doesn't look like anyone really wants a peace deal. This is significant as it shows no sides have reached an unbearable level of discomfort - maybe Abbas as HAMAS starts a surge of their in the WB.

Very cool blog.
The very existence of Israel is a great defeat to the Muslim world. May they lose forever.

Hi Sunny - Thank you! I am reliably informed a case au contraire could be made because of my unbridled optimism.

Careful, I'm liable to quote you on that some day!

Blandy, I agree - notable notables in both Satans - Great and Little -have painted scary pics about "Something that is not there"

Kevin! Thanks for sharing your time at GsGf. Perhaps it's not the Little Satan per se' that drives her neighbors so bloody batty. The Great Satan's recent "Nonnegotiable demands of Human Dignity" are much more threatening to unfree fiefdoms and corrupt royalty in Ray Bans: "the rule of law, limits on state power, free speech, religious liberty, equal
justice, property rights, tolerance of difference and respect for women. These
values are a source of success for nations across the world and they are the
only ideas that can give people in the Middle East a future of modernity with
dignity. This will ultimately defeat the ideology of violent extremism."

Sweet!
